Achrol (Jaipur). Apex University, Achrol, organized a grand celebration on the occasion of National Sports Day, marked by inspiring speeches, cultural activities, and a deep sense of patriotism. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp before the statue of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand, followed by devotional hymns.

Dr. Ashok Gupta, the convener of the program, extended a warm welcome to the guests. Prof. Amarika Singh highlighted the achievements of Major Dhyan Chand, narrating inspirational episodes from his life. He emphasized that recognizing Dhyan Chand’s birthday as National Sports Day was a commendable decision by the government. Prof. Singh further suggested that conferring the Bharat Ratna upon Major Dhyan Chand would enhance respect for sports and strengthen India’s reputation at the global level.

Chancellor Dr. Ravi Uniwal and the university’s director conveyed best wishes to students on the occasion. They assured that sports would be given significant importance in the curriculum and promised to provide state-of-the-art facilities to nurture sporting talent at the university.

The chief guest, Brigadier Ajit Singh Shekhawat, captivated the audience by sharing motivational life experiences. He recounted significant moments from the Kargil War, which lasted nearly 60 days from June 30, 1999, and spoke of his leadership in brave battles. He described how, at an altitude of 18,000 feet, he led 150 soldiers in a successful mission, and how a Muslim company was the first to reach the peak, adding a remarkable chapter to the war.

Brigadier Shekhawat highlighted the dedication and patriotism of soldiers, stressing that their only goal in times of war is to protect the nation. He also shared anecdotes about his father, who served as a naval officer, inspiring students to value discipline and service.

In an interactive session with students, he remarked that parents are the greatest motivators, and achieving goals requires confidence and perseverance. He also mentioned how, under special circumstances, he enabled soldiers to participate in the Olympics. He assured students that more such interactive sessions would be organized in the future at the university.

The event also included a pledge where students recited the Preamble of the Constitution, reaffirming their fundamental duties and rights, thereby strengthening the spirit of nationalism. A special decision was also announced to hold exclusive training sessions in Achrol under the guidance of Brigadier Shekhawat, where army officers will provide training to students.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ajit, guest of the institute. Distinguished academicians including Kailash Saini, Dr. Omveer Singh, Dr. Ashok Sadana, Dr. Priya Mishra, and Dr. Rajendra Sharma were also present on the occasion.
