Saints from all walks of life awakened society and fostered unity: Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot

Udaipur. The Centre for Saint Literature Studies at Gujarat Central University organized a one-day national seminar on “Indian Saint Literature and Spiritual Consciousness” on Tuesday in the university auditorium.

During the inaugural session, Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, Vice-Chancellor of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed-to-be University), stated that the Indian saint tradition has played a vital role in promoting social awareness, spiritual progress, and human values in society.

He emphasized that through their literary contributions, saints guided society toward unity, harmony, and brotherhood. Prof. Sarangdevot highlighted that the spirit of folk religion and humanity embedded in saint poetry transcends boundaries of caste, creed, and religion, inspiring devotion and purification of the mind.

Referring to the legacy of saint poets such as Kabir, Namdev, Meera, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Tulsidas, and the Nath tradition, he remarked that their teachings and writings established ideals of equality, coexistence, and goodwill. He added that saint literature is not only a source of devotion but also a powerful medium for social reform, women’s emancipation, Advaita philosophy, and both Nirguna and Saguna forms of Bhakti.

The seminar also featured addresses by eminent personalities, including Dr. Om Prakash Pandey (renowned space scientist), Dr. Krishna Gopal (Sah Sarkaryavah, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), Prof. Ramashankar Dubey (Vice-Chancellor), and Prof. Rajesh Makwana (Chairperson). Scholars, researchers, and participants from across the country took part in the deliberations, exploring the rich tradition of saint literature in India.

During the event, the book “Flying Marble”, translated by Dr. Premlata Devi, was released by the dignitaries on the dais.

Krishna Kant Kumawat, Private Secretary, informed that all distinguished guests were honored by Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot with traditional pagdi, shawl, and memento on behalf of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth.
