Udaipur – The Mahila Samaj Society celebrated the joyous spirit of Sawan with its heartwarming theme “Maitri Bhav Jagat Mein Mera” – a vibrant gathering filled with friendship, music, and monsoon cheer.
The event began with a soulful performance by Chandrakanta Mehta, Sharada Talesra, and Meenu Kumbhat. Traditional Rajasthani songs welcomed guests, with Maya Kumbhat setting the mood through her melodious rendition of “Savano Surgo Sarasavano, Bhadavo Bharedo, Man Bhavano…”.
Women adorned each other with mehndi, symbolizing unity and celebration. The air echoed with the joyous rhythms of songs like “Sawan Aaya Jhoom Ke…”, as participants danced in tune with the gentle rain and the call of the koel, bringing the essence of Sawan to life.
In a cultural contest, Sharada Talesra was crowned ‘Sawan Queen’ for her accurate answers to season-themed questions, while Sadhna Nagar was honored as ‘Sawan Bahar’.
The gathering also featured delectable traditional sweets and dishes. Active participation was seen from Meenu Kumbhat, Swati Bhargava, Neena Mehta, Jhankar Mogra, Usha Agrawal, Sushma Goyal, Shakuntala Ghosh, Nirmala Sehlot, Meenakshi Lodha, Sundari, Sushila Mehta, and Shweta Talesra, among many others.
