Udaipur,  On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and the National Tribal Pride Day, a floral tribute was offered at his portrait at the Bharatiya Janata Party office, Patel Circle.

During the tribute, BJP City District President Gajpal Singh Rathore stated that Birsa Munda was born on 15 November 1875 in Ulihatu village, Ranchi, Jharkhand. He was a visionary tribal freedom fighter, a social reformer, and a revered figure among indigenous communities. He led a revolt against British rule and fought tirelessly for tribal rights. He passed away on 9 June 1900 at the age of only 25. While studying in a missionary school, he was encouraged to convert to Christianity, but upon realising the exploitation of tribal culture, he left the school and initiated the ‘Ulgulan’ movement to safeguard tribal land and traditional rights. His movement intensified in 1899, leading to his arrest and subsequent death in Ranchi jail. Tribal communities honour him as Dharti Aaba (Father of the Earth). The Prime Minister declared 15 November as Tribal Pride Day in his memory.

District General Secretary Devilal Salvi informed that after the tribute ceremony, all office bearers departed for Dungarpur to attend the state-level Tribal Pride Day programme where Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma would address the gathering.
