Udaipur:Talented karate player Samishta Gehlot from Udaipur district has brought pride to the district and the state by winning a bronze medal at the National Karate Championship organised by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). Her outstanding performance at the national level has earned widespread appreciation from the sports fraternity.

Samishta is a student of St. Gregorios Senior Secondary School, Udaipur, and represented the CBSE Board in the championship. The prestigious national competition was held from January 27 to January 30, 2026, at Baramati, Pune (Maharashtra), with top selected players from across the country participating.

Competing in the Under-19 Girls’ -64 kg weight category, Samishta displayed excellent technique, strong confidence, and disciplined sportsmanship. She defeated competitors from several states in the initial rounds and advanced impressively through the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the decisive bout, she defeated a player from Maharashtra to secure the bronze medal.

Her success was strongly supported by her coach Sanju Singh, whose contribution in technical training, strategic preparation, and mental conditioning played a vital role in her achievement. Coach Sanju Singh stated that Samishta possesses immense potential to emerge as a top-level player at national and international platforms in the future.

Samishta’s achievement has sparked a wave of happiness among the school management, teachers, parents, and sports enthusiasts. The school administration described this moment as a matter of pride for the institution and expressed confidence that her success will inspire other students to actively pursue sports.

Several dignitaries and sports personalities congratulated Samishta, including Karate India Organizer President Bharat Sharma, General Secretary Sanjeev Jangra, Extreme Martial Arts India Technical Director and Indian Karate Team Captain Sensei Aniket Gupta, along with Deepika Diwan, Akhtar, Naveen, Bindiya, Basu, Rajsanchu, Dharmendra, Sanskar, Parth, Ved, and Aditya Singh. They extended their best wishes for her bright future.

Sports experts and coaches from Udaipur have termed Samishta’s achievement an inspiration for the youth of the district and expressed hope that she will continue to represent the state and the country at state, national, and international levels in the years to come.
