Udaipur | Under the leadership of District Coordinator Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the Mahatma Gandhi Jeevan Darshan Samiti, Udaipur organized a commemorative march on Thursday in memory of the historic Dandi March led by Mahatma Gandhi.

The program began with floral tributes offered at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located at Gulab Bagh. Members present paid homage by offering flowers and collectively singing Gandhi’s favorite devotional hymns. Participants especially sang the well-known bhajan “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye” and began the march wearing Gandhi caps.

The march started from the Gandhi statue at Gulab Bagh and passed through Surajpol and Bapu Bazaar, finally reaching the Shaheed Shanti‑Anandi Memorial at Delhi Gate. During the march, participants pledged to spread the message of Gandhi’s ideals, non-violence, and Satyagraha among the public.

After reaching the memorial, a seminar was organized on the theme “Gandhi’s Gram Swaraj.” On this occasion, Pankaj Kumar Sharma said that the concept of Gram Swaraj remains highly relevant for India’s overall development even today. He explained that Gandhi envisioned building a strong nation through self-reliant villages. He also highlighted the historical significance of the Dandi March, describing it as a symbol of Satyagraha and non-violent resistance against unjust laws during British rule.

Several office bearers and members of the committee participated in the event. Among those present were Ashok Tamboli, Bhagwati Prajapat, Govind Saxena, Jagdish Nagda, Uttam Prakash Devda, Kanhaiyalal Menaria, Sudhir Joshi, Firoz Ahmed Sheikh, Sanjay Mandwani, Balu Salvi, Mahendranath Purohit, Lokesh Gurjar, Narayan Sharma, Pramod Verma, Mohanlal Lakshkar, Shivraj Singh Rathore, and Omprakash, along with hundreds of committee members.

The program concluded with floral tributes offered at the statue of Shanti–Anandi at the Shaheed Memorial. The objective of the event was to revive and promote the values of truth, non-violence, and Gram Swaraj advocated by Mahatma Gandhi. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ashok Tamboli. ✨
