Udaipur: The state government has issued an order appointing Dr. Rahul Jain as the Principal and Controller of Ravindra Nath Tagore (RNT) Medical College. Dr. Jain has been serving as Superintendent for the past eight years and is currently providing medical services at District Hospital Ambamata and the Satellite Hospital in Hiran Magri. Originally from Bansen village in Chittorgarh district, Dr. Jain is the son of Dr. R.C. Jain, a retired professor from the Pathology Department of RNT Medical College, Udaipur.
Dr. Jain has outlined several priorities to improve healthcare services:

Strengthening Emergency Care: Deploying senior doctors on duty in the emergency unit to provide high-quality treatment for critical patients.

Reducing OPD Crowding: Initiating night-time OPD services to prevent patients from visiting doctors’ private residences during evenings and nights, while easing morning crowding.

Optimizing Hospital Spaces: Acquiring vacant spaces near the veterinary hospital and other areas in the hospital premises.

Tribal Patient Support: Establishing a Tribal Research, Diagnosis, and Advisory Center to provide better treatment and guidance to patients from tribal areas of southern Rajasthan.

Academic Enhancement: Promoting research, organizing conferences and seminars to improve the national ranking of RNT Medical College.
Considering overcrowding and parking issues at Maharana Bhupal Hospital and Panna Dhai Hospital, Dr. Jain plans to strengthen Ambamata and Hiran Magri satellite hospitals with specialist medical units so that patients with common ailments can be treated locally, reducing pressure on main hospitals.
Additionally, he intends to develop the larger medical college campus and transfer certain departments there to alleviate congestion and parking problems at Maharana Bhupal Hospital. For medical students’ training, he also plans to restart evening training clinics at the hospitals to enhance practical learning opportunities.
This approach reflects a strategic focus on improving patient care, reducing hospital congestion, and fostering academic and research excellence at RNT Medical College.
