Udaipur,Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani emphasized that language forms the backbone of culture, and protecting it is essential for preserving cultural identity. Speaking at a cultural evening jointly organised by the Rajasthan Sindhi Academy and Jhulelal Seva Samiti at Sukhadia Rangmanch Auditorium, Udaipur, he urged the Sindhi community to give special attention to their mother tongue. He stressed that the younger generation must embrace and absorb the Sindhi language, for it naturally carries forward Sindhi culture and heritage.

Pride in Sindhi Identity and Language

In his address, Shri Devnani shared his pride in being Sindhi and highlighted the richness of the language, which comprises 52 letters reflecting its depth and vibrancy. He called for extensive literary creation in Sindhi and insisted that safeguarding the language is the key to preserving Sindhi civilization. Recalling the Partition, he noted that when the people of Sindh migrated to India, they came only with their language and culture. Wherever they settled, they earned respect and recognition through sheer hard work.

The programme featured vibrant presentations of Sindhi songs, dance, music, and theatre, celebrating the community’s heritage. On behalf of the community, Shri Devnani was accorded a special felicitation. Notable figures including Harish Rajani, Vijay Ahuja, and several other dignitaries were also present.

Partition Horrors Gallery in Ajmer

Shri Devnani further announced that a Partition Horrors Gallery is being established in Ajmer to depict the ordeals, atrocities, struggles, and resilience faced by the Sindhi community during and after the Partition. The gallery will also serve as a living repository showcasing the language, traditions, and cultural heritage of Sindhis, ensuring that future generations remain connected with their roots.
