AJMER, India The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a joint director of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department in Ajmer for allegedly accepting a ₹3 lakh bribe in exchange for issuing a contract agreement and clearing bills of a private institution.

The accused official, Jayprakash Charan, Joint Director of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department in Ajmer, was caught red-handed during a trap operation conducted by the ACB’s Special Investigation Wing (SIW), Jaipur, on Thursday.

ACB Director General Govind Gupta said the SIW Jaipur outpost had received a complaint alleging that Charan was demanding ₹3 lakh from the complainant for issuing a contract agreement for the institution and processing its pending bills.

The complaint was verified by the ACB before the trap operation was planned.

Official Caught Taking Cash

The trap operation was conducted under the supervision of ACB Deputy Inspector General Dr. Rameshwar Singh. The operation was directed by Additional Superintendent of Police Jhabarmal Yadav and led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Surendra Pancholi.

During the operation, the ACB team allegedly caught Charan red-handed while accepting ₹3 lakh in cash from the complainant.

The ACB has taken the accused into custody and further investigation is underway. The bureau said the case would be investigated in accordance with law and further action would follow based on the findings.
