Udaipur: The Shwetambar Terapanth community observed Vrat Chetna Diwas (Day of Awareness of Vows) on the fifth day of the Paryushan Mahaparva at Mahapragya Vihar in Udaipur.
A religious assembly was organised in the presence of Munishri Sanjay Kumar Diver, Munishri Prakash Kumar Diver and Munishri Siddhi Pragya of Ujjain, who are following the guidance of Yug Pradhan Acharya Shri Mahashramanji. A large number of members of the Terapanth community participated in the programme.
The event began with a Mangalacharan and devotional song presented by members of the Terapanth Mahila Mandal. Members of the Terapanth Yuvak Parishad presented the devotional song “Paryushan Parva Manaye Hum”, creating a spiritual atmosphere.
Addressing the gathering on Vrat Chetna Diwas, Munishri said merely taking a vow was not enough and that one must remain conscious of the rules associated with it. A vow becomes meaningful only when restraint and awareness are reflected in one's conduct, he said.
He encouraged devotees to undertake vows related to ethical conduct, give up eating at night and take appropriate four-vow and twelve-vow commitments according to their spiritual capacity.
Through devotional bhajans and episodes from the spiritual journey of Lord Mahavira, Munishri highlighted the significance of Paryushan. He said the festival provides an opportunity for self-introspection, purification, forgiveness and restraint.
Members of the community took pledges to embrace renunciation, spiritual discipline and greater awareness in their daily lives.
Terapanth Sabha Udaipur president Rajkumar Kachhara and secretary Rakesh Nahar said Jap Diwas (Day of Chanting and Meditation) will be observed on Sunday, September 13, as part of the ongoing Paryushan Mahaparva.
