Mumbai: Renowned singer and Padma Shri awardee Soma Ghosh has said that embracing music in everyday life can help establish peace and harmony in society. Ghosh was speaking as the chief guest at the 4th National Convention and Felicitation Ceremony organised by the registered Press Club of Working Journalists, an organisation committed to journalists’ security and welfare. The event was held at the Atal Smriti Udyan Auditorium in Borivali West, Mumbai. The national convention brought together journalists, social workers, artists and personalities from across the country who have made notable contributions in various fields. Several individuals were felicitated for their work and contribution to society. According to event organiser Shashi Deep, Mumbai, the convention was presided over by the organisation’s National President, Dr. Syed Khalid Qais, Advocate. Senior social worker Shankar Ghanshyamdas Andani, noted film actor Girish Thapar and public representative Nisha Parulekar attended the event as special guests. Several Personalities Felicitated Senior social worker Shankar Ghanshyamdas Andani was conferred with the organisation’s prestigious “Rashtra Manik” National Award. The Samaj Bhushan Award was presented to social worker Zakaria Lakdawala, while the Bharat Bhushan Award went to social worker Ishwar Kishanlal Agarwal. Dr. Suvi Manish Swami, founder of Panch Kosha Therapy and an advocate for people affected by serious illnesses, including cancer patients, was honoured with the Asia's Most Influential Woman Award – 2026. The Manikarnika Award for the year was presented to renowned writer, author and social worker Dr. Manju Langote of Betul, Madhya Pradesh. The Rashtra Bhushan Award was conferred on Goa-based journalist and social worker Sandeep Prabhugaonkar, media professional Shakir Malik of Borsad, Gujarat, noted physician Dr. Shah Iliyas Bhai Yunus Bhai of Ahmedabad, and journalist Riyaz Khan of Nimbahera, Rajasthan. The Bhagwat Prasad Memorial Award, instituted in memory of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh-based social worker, humanitarian and litterateur Bhagwat Prasad Keshkar, was presented this year to renowned Pandavani performer Taruna Sahu of Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. The Samaj Gaurav Award was presented to noted film photographers Raju Asrani and Vijay Tasveer. Album Launched A special highlight of the ceremony was the launch of Padma Shri Soma Ghosh’s music album “Chhoti Si Zindagi.” The organisation’s national souvenir and telephone directory were also unveiled during the event. The convention served as a platform to recognise contributions in journalism, social service, arts, literature and other fields while bringing together people working for social welfare and public causes from different parts of the country.
