Sri Ganganagar: On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, sisters from the local centre of the Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, located near Soni Dharamshala, visited the Central Jail and tied rakhis on the wrists of inmates. The programme focused on spreading the message of positivity, spiritual strength and reform, while encouraging inmates to follow the path of good deeds.

During the programme, the inmates took a firm pledge to lead a drug-free life.

Addressing the gathering, BK Usha explained the deeper spiritual significance of Raksha Bandhan. She said that the festival is commonly understood as a bond in which a sister ties a sacred thread on her brother’s wrist and the brother promises to protect her. However, in today’s world, when individuals themselves face numerous challenges and inner weaknesses, the question arises as to who can provide true protection.

BK Usha said that the Supreme Soul, the Supreme Father, is the ultimate protector who never abandons His children. She explained that the rakhi is not merely a thread but represents a firm spiritual commitment made before God. She urged everyone to leave behind bitter memories and negative tendencies and instead offer one another blessings, good wishes and positive thoughts.

On the occasion, all inmates took a collective pledge to make their lives free from substance abuse. The Brahma Kumari sisters then tied sacred threads symbolising purity and good intentions on the wrists of the inmates and distributed sweets.

As part of the programme, Lalitya presented a patriotic poem, “Main Bharat Ka Jawan Hoon,” in an emotional rendition.

Ritu, Kanchan, Ravi and Ved Prakash extended special support in organising the programme. Jail Superintendent Mahaveer Meena appreciated the Brahma Kumari sisters for their meaningful initiative. Jailers Charan Singh and Hemraj were also present. The Brahma Kumari sisters tied sacred rakhis to the jail officials as well, reinforcing the message of goodwill, positivity and spiritual commitment.
