Udaipur: The Indian women’s lacrosse team won the bronze medal at an international lacrosse championship held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with nine players from Udaipur district’s tribal region making a significant contribution to the achievement.

The Rajasthan players in the Indian squad included captain Dali Gameti, Sunita Meena, Yashishtha Batra, Jula Kumari Gurjar, Meera Dauja, Vishakha Meghwal, Yashoda Gameti, Roshni Bose and Jhanvi Rathore. They competed under coaches Neeraj Batra and Shakeel Khan and manager Shahzad Khan.

India began strongly, defeating hosts Malaysia 27-3 before registering a 20-2 victory over the Philippines. In the bronze-medal match, India faced Singapore in a closely fought contest. Showing determination and composure, the Indian team edged past Singapore 10-9 to secure the bronze.

Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat congratulated the players and said their success demonstrated how talent from tribal and rural areas can reach international platforms through dedicated training, discipline and opportunities. He assured support for their sporting development under the Prime Minister’s ‘Target Olympics’ initiative.

Chief de Mission Imran Lari also praised the team’s confidence and fighting spirit.

Lacrosse Association of India officials, Rajasthan Lacrosse Association President Ashok Parnami and sports enthusiasts congratulated the Indian team and the nine Rajasthan players on their achievement.
