Udaipur: The Jal Doot–Nasha Doot campaign, aimed at creating awareness about water conservation and the harmful effects of substance abuse, continued across schools in Udaipur. The campaign was launched two months ago in 19 schools, with regular awareness and training sessions being conducted for students.
The second session of the campaign was held at Royal Academy School, Pratap Nagar, on September 8, followed by a session at Gandhi Bal Vidya Mandir School, Khempura, on September 10.
At Royal Academy School, selected students were asked about the water conservation training imparted to them during the previous month. As part of the ongoing programme, students were taught water conservation slogans, which they have been regularly reciting at the school. This month, students were also educated about how to identify tobacco addiction and recognise its harmful effects. They were further given practice for a water conservation song that will be used throughout the coming month.
Campaign coordinator Mrs. Sheetal expressed her gratitude to Dr. P.C. Jain, while Principal Dr. Manju Sharma welcomed the participants.
At Gandhi Bal Vidya Mandir, students were also asked about the lessons and information shared with them during the previous session. They were given practice of the song “Jal Hi Jeevan Hai” (Water is Life) as part of the campaign.
All students were distributed coconuts with the message to take them home and place the coconut husk around plants in their household pots. The husk can help retain moisture, reduce the amount of water required for plants and prevent excessive evaporation. As it decomposes, it also turns into natural compost.
The coconut offerings will further be distributed among neighbours and people in the surrounding community while encouraging them to take a pledge to conserve water.
Principal Dinesh Sharma expressed his gratitude to Jal Mitra Dr. P.C. Jain for his efforts and contribution towards the awareness campaign.
The initiative continues to focus on engaging students as ambassadors of water conservation and a drug-free society, encouraging them to spread awareness within their families and communities.
