Sri Ganganagar: A joint patrolling team of the Rajasthan and Punjab Irrigation Departments inspected the Bikaner Canal on Wednesday to prevent incidents of water theft and ensure proper regulation of canal water.
During the inspection from Burji No. 216 to 223, the joint team removed and seized four pipes installed for illegally drawing water from the canal. The team also dismantled the arrangements made for unauthorised water lifting and took the seized pipes into custody.
Punjab Irrigation Department Junior Engineer Harvinder Singh and Rajasthan Irrigation Department Junior Engineers Ramniwas Meena and Vikram Jat jointly participated in the operation.
Following the seizure, discussions were held with officials of the Punjab Irrigation Department regarding registration of cases against those responsible for the illegal water-lifting arrangements.
Officials said that joint patrolling and strict action against unauthorised water lifting and water theft from canals would continue in the future to ensure proper distribution and regulation of canal water.
