Extending his best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of International Literacy Day, Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani stated that literacy is not merely the ability to read and write; rather, it is a powerful medium that connects an individual with knowledge, self-reliance, awareness, and social participation.Speaker Devnani remarked that an educated and aware citizen forms the cornerstone of an empowered society and a developed nation. Literacy not only fosters the development of an individual's personality but also makes them conscious of their rights and duties, enabling them to play an active role in societal progress.He noted that India's ancient tradition of knowledge has always accorded the highest importance to education. Knowledge not only gives direction to an individual's life but also serves as the foundation for wisdom, equality, self-confidence, and positive change within society. Therefore, it is our collective responsibility to ensure that education and knowledge reach every individual.The Assembly Speaker observed that in today's technology- and knowledge-driven era, the scope of literacy has expanded significantly. Digital literacy, financial awareness, and social consciousness are also vital dimensions of modern empowerment. We must ensure that every section of society can connect with the mainstream of education and knowledge.Devnani stated that literacy enables individuals to become self-reliant and capable of making effective contributions to the nation's progress. He called upon teachers, educational institutions, social organizations, and aware citizens to make continuous efforts toward spreading education and eradicating illiteracy in society.He added that International Literacy Day offers us an opportunity to pledge that we will work together to bring the light of education to the last person in society and ensure our participation in building an aware, educated, empowered, and developed India.
