Udaipur: An AITA CS7 National India Ranking Tennis Tournament was organised at Maharana Pratap Khelgaon, Udaipur, from August 17 to 21, with players participating from different states.
District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal and Tennis Coach Khemraj Gameti said the event was organised with support from Arqet Foundation, Udaipur, with tennis coach Chetan playing an important role in its successful conduct. Matches in the boys’ category were held in the morning and girls’ matches in the evening.
Udaipur’s Divyaraj Singh Chauhan secured a silver medal in the doubles event, finishing runner-up with a score of 4-6, 3-6. An earlier tournament held at Khelgaon this month also saw strong performances by local players. Arjav Jain won the boys’ singles title, while Aadhya Jain topped the girls’ singles event. Arjav Jain and Vireshwar Thakur also won the boys’ doubles title.
Players were felicitated by representatives of the Udaipur Tennis Association and Khelgaon officials. Kunal Bagla, Founder and CEO of Arqet Foundation, congratulated the participants.
Dr. Paliwal said regular competitions would be organised at Khelgaon to promote sporting talent. Development works, including clay tennis courts, a cricket pavilion, pickleball facilities, an open boxing ring and swimming pool improvements, are nearing completion. The facility will thereafter focus on hosting more competitions and identifying emerging sporting talent.
