Udaipur: A training programme for Presiding Officers was organised Monday as part of preparations for the Udaipur Municipal Elections 2026, with an emphasis on conducting the electoral process smoothly, impartially and transparently.
The training was held at Sukhadiya Rangmanch Auditorium, Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium and Parshad Auditorium in the presence of District Election Officer and District Collector Gaurav Agrawal. Presiding Officers were given theoretical as well as practical training on polling procedures and their responsibilities on election day.
Agrawal said free and fair elections are fundamental to a strong democracy and that Presiding Officers play a crucial role in ensuring the credibility of the electoral process. He urged officials to take the training seriously and perform their duties with sensitivity, vigilance and complete impartiality.
He stressed strict compliance with the rules and instructions issued by the Election Commission of India and the State Election Commission to ensure voters can exercise their franchise freely and without fear.
Assistant In-charge of the Training Cell Dr. Mahamaya Prasad Choubisa and master trainers explained key aspects of polling station management, voting secrecy, documentation and record-keeping. Officials were also briefed on handling different situations that could arise during polling.
The programme also included theoretical and hands-on training in EVM operations and other technical aspects of the voting process.
