41 Kg Raw Food Seized from Awadh Express Pantry; ₹11,000 Fine Imposed


In a surprise inspection led by Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Kishore Kumar Patel, a significant quantity of unauthorized food items was seized from the pantry car of Train No. 19037 Bandra Terminus–Barauni Awadh Express on May 29.

The inspection team found 9 kg poha, 25 kg yellow rice, and 7.2 kg dal, totaling 41 kg of raw food materials stored in violation of food safety norms. Additionally, 1,900 undersized tea cups (100 ml and 50 ml) and 11 bottles of unapproved 600 ml mango drink were confiscated. The pantry’s license holder was immediately fined ₹11,000.

Furthermore, 9 passengers travelling without tickets were apprehended and fined ₹3,370.

This operation was conducted with the support of Chief Catering Inspector Hansraj Bairwa, Divisional Commercial Inspector Bhagwat Sisodia, TTE Deepak Sharma, Deputy Station Manager (Commercial) Vikas Gupta, IRCTC Area Manager Vishal Yadav, and RPF CIB personnel Sandeep, Gokhlesh, and Toran Singh.

Authorities have stated that such checks will continue to ensure food safety and compliance across the zone.
