National Mathematics Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and academic dignity at the Faculty of Science, PAHER University. The event was organized on the birth anniversary of the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, with the objective of igniting students’ interest in mathematics and familiarizing them with its modern-day applications.
The chief speaker of the program was Dr. Lia D’Costa, an academician from the American University of the Middle East, Kuwait. In her address, she elaborated on the global relevance of mathematics, emerging directions in research, and the central role mathematics plays in science and technology. Her lecture provided students and research scholars with valuable insights into international-level mathematical research.
The program was presided over by Prof. Dilendra Hiran, Faculty Chairman, Faculty of Science and Technology. He described mathematics as the foundation of all sciences and emphasized its importance for innovation and technological development. Prof. Seema Kothari also shared her views, encouraging students to see mathematics not merely as a subject, but as a powerful way of thinking.
The program was coordinated and conducted by Dr. Naresh Menaria, Head of the Department of Mathematics. While welcoming the guests, he highlighted the significance of National Mathematics Day and stated that such events help develop logical ability, analytical thinking, and a research-oriented mindset among students. All faculty members were present during the program.
