Acupressure Demonstration by Dr. Alpana Bohra at Government Meera Girls College: Students

Udaipur: Under the joint auspices of the Upbhokta Surksha Sangthan and Government Meera Girls College, a one-day Acupressure Awareness and Live Demonstration Session was organised as part of the special seven-day camp of all four units of the National Service Scheme (NSS). The programme was held at the Pannadhay Auditorium from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm.

At the outset, the Principal of the college, Prof. Deepak Maheshwari, and Dr. Sunita Arya, NSS Programme Officer, welcomed the chief guest by honouring her with a traditional uparna.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Alpana Bohra—a Nari Shakti Award recipient, President of the Women’s Wing of Upbhokta Surksha Sangthan, Udaipur district, and former senior officer at Rolta India Limited, Mumbai—explained that acupressure is a highly effective natural therapy for the prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases. She informed students about issues such as stress, fatigue, lack of concentration, insomnia and weakness, and demonstrated practical methods to overcome these problems.

Dr. Bohra elaborated on the benefits and techniques of acupressure, stating that ailments such as migraine, headache, sinus problems, cervical pain, eye-related disorders and knee pain can be relieved through regular practice. During the session, she demonstrated specific acupressure points for various ailments and conducted live practical exercises, allowing participants to practise under direct guidance.

More than 200 students and faculty members of Government Meera Girls College participated enthusiastically in the programme. They gained valuable insights into disease prevention and treatment through acupressure without medication and pledged to adopt this natural healing method in their daily lives. Special focus was given to identifying hand and foot pressure points so that participants could practise easily at home.

Dr. Bohra emphasised that acupressure can be practised independently without visiting a doctor and has no side effects. She added that regular acupressure practice helps enhance concentration, mental balance, energy levels and self-confidence.

The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Rajshree Gandhi, National President of Upbhokta Surksha Sangthan, along with coordinators Ashok Kadecha and Parvati Jha. On this occasion, Prof. Deepak Maheshwari and Dr. Sunita Arya appreciated the initiative, describing such health awareness programmes as highly beneficial for students and thanked the organisers.

The awareness camp concluded successfully, with organisers assuring that more such programmes would be conducted in the future to promote health consciousness across all sections of society. Participants praised the initiative and expressed their commitment to regular acupressure practice.
