Udaipur: On the occasion of National Mathematics Day, the Department of Mathematics at Vidya Bhavan Rural Institute, Udaipur, in collaboration with the Maths and Physics Club, organised a poster and model-making competition along with an expert lecture. The objective was to generate students’ interest in mathematics and highlight its practical and conceptual relevance beyond numbers.
The chief guest and keynote speaker, Dr. Sapna Shrimali, Director, Faculty of Science, Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), delivered an inspiring lecture titled “Maths Beyond Numbers.” She emphasised mathematics as the foundation of logic, structure, analysis and innovation, and shed light on the life, discipline and struggles of legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Around 50 students participated, presenting 15 posters and 10 working models reflecting creativity and practical application. In the working model category, Vidya Suthar and Vinita Suthar secured first place, while in the poster category, Anjali Shekhawat and Suraj Lohar emerged winners.
Faculty members and guests appreciated the students’ efforts and encouraged them to pursue excellence in mathematics. Winners were awarded prizes and certificates. The event proved highly informative and motivating for students.
