Udaipur – On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Hindustan Zinc organized extensive awareness campaigns in areas surrounding its operational units to educate school children—both boys and girls—on menstrual health and hygiene.
As part of its Mamta Menstrual Hygiene Management initiative under the Healthcare Program, sessions were held in eight government schools in regions including Zawar (Udaipur), Dariba (Rajsamand), Chanderiya (Chittorgarh), and Agucha (Bhilwara). Through these sessions, 582 students were sensitized about the importance of menstrual hygiene.
Aligned with this year’s global theme, "Together for a Period-Friendly World," a series of engaging and educational activities were organized to promote healthy menstrual practices among adolescents. The sessions began with a pre-assessment test to gauge the participants' existing knowledge, followed by awareness talks by a female doctor using a menstrual hygiene management apron to explain the biological process of menstruation, menstrual cycles, and essential hygiene practices.
To break myths and misconceptions, an interactive myth-busting session was held using specially designed card tools. The sessions also featured an MHM-themed snakes and ladders floor game to creatively communicate important hygiene messages. Additionally, anemia awareness was incorporated—highlighting symptoms like fatigue and pale skin, supported by anemia charts and dietary tips.
Various safe menstrual hygiene options such as sanitary pads, tampons, menstrual cups, and disposable period panties were demonstrated to help girls make informed choices about their health.
Through this initiative, Hindustan Zinc reaffirmed its commitment to adolescent health and community well-being.
