New Delhi. Former BJP state president and Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi demanded a new train from Udaipur to Mumbai and Chennai during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
Joshi strongly raised the railway-related problems of his constituency, Chittorgarh, and the Mewar region, stating that a large number of residents travel to Mumbai and South India (especially Chennai) for business, employment, higher education, and other purposes. However, they face significant difficulties when traveling for festivals, family functions, or emergencies.
MP CP Joshi stated that currently, trains from Udaipur to Mumbai and the South run every alternate day. This results in significant waiting times and ticket availability issues, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. Additionally, current trains run via Ratlam, which takes longer and prevents the people of the Mewar region from fully benefiting from it. He also mentioned that the Udaipur to Ahmedabad railway section is now fully electrified and ready for long-distance train operations. Therefore, connecting this route to Mumbai and South India is feasible from both a technical and operational perspective.
MP CP Joshi expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that remarkable progress has been made in the railway sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the last 10-11 years. The Mewar region has witnessed unprecedented development in the railway sector, receiving historic gifts in the form of electrification, doubling, and new lines. Now, it is essential that the benefits of this infrastructure reach the general public directly, and direct rail service to Mumbai and South India is established.
MP CP Joshi expressed confidence that the Central Government and the Railway Ministry will soon take a positive decision on this important demand of the people of Mewar.
