Kota – A sudden high voltage surge caused by a fault in the electricity lines due to alleged negligence by KEDL wreaked havoc in the Gulab Badi area of Kota. The incident resulted in the burning of electrical appliances in dozens of homes and shops, leaving residents distressed.
Local resident Prashant Saxena reported that around 6:00 PM, a loud noise was heard, followed by a power surge that led to TVs, refrigerators, computers, fans, and lights blowing up one after another. Despite filing an online complaint, he claimed that JEN Natwar Ji of the area did not respond to phone calls for over an hour. Later, AEN Hemant Ji was contacted after 3-4 calls, who assured that a team would be sent. However, the response team arrived only by 8:00 PM, and even then, the fault could not be identified.
Residents are now demanding that KEDL’s operator CSC company compensate for the losses. Prashant Saxena shared that all his home appliances, including his TV and computer, were damaged. Similarly, Prit Digital Studio’s computers, Deo Color Lab’s online UPS, computers, and stabilizers, and Shakila Bano’s household appliances were destroyed.
Losses were also reported by Nisha Jain (TV, fridge), Manish Jain (TV), and even the watchman of Samta Bhavan, whose LED TV, fan, and cooler were damaged. Multiple homes and businesses have suffered extensive damage to their electrical equipment due to the power surge.
