#### Statues of Freedom Fighters Parsharam and Shanta Trivedi Unveiled in Udaipur

Udaipur,  The statues of freedom fighter couple, late Parsharam Trivedi and late Shanta Trivedi, were unveiled on Tuesday at the Rajasthan Mahila Parishad, Udaipur. The event was graced by the Governor of Punjab, Gulabchand Kataria, as Chief Guest. The program was presided over by socialist thinker and former MLA Mohan Prakash.

The unveiling was conducted with traditional rituals by Swami Hiteshwaranand Saraswati of Chawand Ashram and Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan Vidyapeeth (Deemed University), Udaipur. Earlier, the Heera Jayanti Gate was inaugurated, and floral tributes were offered at the Samadhi of Shanta Trivedi.

Prominent attendees included Chandra Kanta Trivedi, President of Rajasthan Mahila Parishad, Udaipur; former State Minister Jagdish Raj Shrimali; Secretary Divya Johri; Treasurer Akshita Trivedi; and former BJP District President Ravindra Shrimali. Jagdish Raj Shrimali was felicitated for his contributions, and poet Shankarlal Sharma’s book Kirti Kavyasangrah was released during the ceremony.

Governor Kataria recalled his personal moments with Parsharamji and highlighted the pride of Mewar in producing such luminaries. He emphasized Shanta Trivedi’s pioneering role in promoting women’s education in 1947 when women were largely confined to the ghunghat. Kataria praised the current management for sustaining the organization despite challenges and urged society to honor great personalities above political considerations so that future generations can draw inspiration from their legacy.

He assured that a statue of Shanta Trivedi, Mewar’s first female education pioneer, would be established near Fatehsagar in the future.

Socialist thinker and former MLA Mohan Prakash expressed happiness over the statue unveiling and shared memories of their role in the freedom struggle, social service, and education. He described Parsharamji as both humorous and rebellious by nature.

Nivritti Kumari Mewar spoke of pride in having such luminaries on Mewar soil and encouraged girls to remember their inherent strength and pursue education fearlessly. MLA Tarachand Jain paid homage to Parsharamji and Shanta Trivedi and proposed naming city roads after them to immortalize their legacy.

Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot stressed the need to re-evaluate history and ensure statues represent living memories to inspire the next generation. Swami Hiteshwaranand highlighted Mewar’s historic significance as a center of devotion, courage, and social progress, celebrating Parsharam and Shanta Trivedi’s lifelong dedication to the upliftment of the underprivileged and tribal communities.

Former MP Raghuveer Singh Meena and Jagdish Raj Shrimali recounted Parsharam Trivedi’s and Shanta Trivedi’s sacrifices during the freedom struggle. Despite injuries in British attacks, Shanta Trivedi committed herself to educating and raising girls, ultimately founding the Rajasthan Mahila Parishad on 11 September 1947. Parsharam Trivedi passed away on 24 January 2002 and Shanta Trivedi on 21 June 2010. The program was conducted by Rajendra Sen and Aarti Vaishnav.
