Udaipur. The remarkable talent of Rajasthan’s young prodigy, Kiyana Parihar, has once again brought glory to India on the global chess stage. The National Under-9 Girls Chess Champion from Udaipur has achieved an extraordinary milestone by clinching the Gold Medal at the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025 held recently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With this victory, she has raised her international medal tally to ten.
Kiyana secured the top position in the Under-10 Girls Blitz category, showcasing exceptional strategic skill throughout the championship. The prestigious 10-day tournament, held from 8 to 17 November, witnessed participation from 900 players representing 30 countries across various age groups.
During the press conference at Madhushree Banquet Hall, Ashoka Palace, her father Jitendra Parihar shared that along with the Blitz title, Kiyana also won a Bronze Medal in the Classical format. This dual triumph reflects her mastery across multiple formats of the game. Her consistent brilliance has placed her among India’s youngest and most promising chess talents.
Earlier, Kiyana made history by earning a Bronze Medal at the World Cadet Chess Championship 2025 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and another Bronze at the World Youth Tilts Chess Championship in Rhodes, Greece—becoming Rajasthan’s first athlete to win at this level.
She has also achieved five Gold Medals and one Silver in Asian Championships, including her 2023 Asian Youth Chess Champion title in Al Ain, UAE. Her steady rise on the Asian and international circuits marks her as a formidable name in chess.
Expressing gratitude, Kiyana thanked her parents, coach Hemant Thanki, MDS School, sponsors—Nive Society and Wonder Cement—for their constant support. She added that her ultimate dream is to become the World Chess Champion, and she continues to work tirelessly toward that goal.
Kiyana’s extraordinary achievements not only strengthen Rajasthan’s identity in the Indian chess landscape but also inspire countless young players across the country.
