PHED Minister Kanhaiyalal Reviews Water Projects in Udaipur

Udaipur,  Public Health Engineering & Groundwater Department (PHED) Minister Kanhaiyalal visited Udaipur on a short tour and chaired a divisional-level review meeting at the Additional Chief Engineer’s office near Patel Circle. The meeting involved officials from Udaipur and Banswara divisions to assess the progress of water-related schemes, including the Jal Jeevan Mission, Summer Contingency plans, and budget announcement projects.

The minister issued strict instructions for the timely completion of handpump and tubewell construction works by June, emphasizing that public funds should not be wasted. He directed officials to invite tenders as per current BSR rates and avoid using outdated rate contracts. He also stressed encouraging competitive contractors to ensure cost-effective and high-quality work.

Reviewing the AMRUT 2.0 and Jal Jeevan Mission projects, Minister Kanhaiyalal called them crucial and instructed that technical approvals and project monitoring be handled meticulously. He directed officers to inspect at least five projects randomly every month and ensure direct communication with contractors to maintain construction quality.

He emphasized that no household tap connections should be issued unless the overhead tanks are filled with water. “Public satisfaction must remain the top priority,” he said. Officers were also asked to engage with local citizens and contractors to resolve issues through collective participation.

Reassuring officers, the minister stated that there is no shortage of funds and that most pending OTMP payments will be cleared this month. He also ordered strict action against negligent contractors while encouraging those performing well.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer (Project) Udaipur Rakesh Luhadia, ACE Udaipur Shaitan Singh, Project ACE Manohar Singh, Banswara ACE Nirill Kumar, along with other divisional and district-level officers.
