### Solid Waste Management Rules Reviewed in Udaipur

 

Udaipur,  In compliance with the orders issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), a meeting of the Special Task Force Committee was convened on Wednesday under the chairmanship of District Collector Namit Mehta at the Collectorate auditorium to review solid waste management in the district.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash, Trainee IAS Srishti Dabas, Deputy Director of Local Bodies Vinod Kumar, Regional Officer of Rajasthan Pollution Control Board Sharad Saxena, and representatives from all municipal bodies of the district.

During the session, the Municipal Commissioner informed that notices have been issued to 48 commercial bulk waste generators in Udaipur who generate more than 100 kg of solid waste daily but are not disposing of it as per the regulations. Penalties will be imposed on violators as per the legal provisions.

Regional Officer Sharad Saxena emphasized the importance of door-to-door collection with segregation of wet and dry waste. He also instructed early operation of the MRF (Material Recovery Facility) plants set up by the municipal bodies in Bhinder and Kanod.

Further, all municipal bodies were directed to take continuous action against the use of single-use plastic and to raise public awareness about its prohibition and environmental impact.
