Congress Flags Corruption at MPUAT

Udaipur:The Udaipur City District Congress Committee, under the leadership of its President Fateh Singh Rathore, on Sunday submitted a memorandum to Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade during his visit to Udaipur, demanding intervention in alleged corruption and neglect of tribal farmers at Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur.

Addressing the issue, District Congress President Fateh Singh Rathore stated that the primary objective behind establishing the agricultural university was to improve farming practices and uplift the living standards of marginal, small and economically weaker tribal farmers of the Vagad–Mewar region. However, he alleged that even after several years, the university has failed to achieve its core objectives.

Rathore claimed that several officers and employees of the university are allegedly involved in serious financial irregularities, misappropriation of funds and large-scale corruption, due to which the institution is drifting away from its original mission.

The Udaipur City District Congress Committee urged the Governor to order a high-level inquiry into the alleged corruption, irregularities and financial mismanagement prevailing at the university. The memorandum also demanded that the university’s objectives be redefined and concrete, effective schemes be launched specifically for the welfare and development of tribal farmers of the Vagad–Mewar region.

The Congress leaders expressed hope that timely intervention by the Governor would help restore transparency, accountability and the original purpose of the prestigious agricultural institution.
