Mewar in Parliament: MP Dr. Rawat Demands Establishment of a Central Tribal University in South Rajasthan

Udaipur. MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat on Wednesday strongly raised the demand for setting up a Central Tribal University in South Rajasthan for the welfare of Bhil youth. He stated in Parliament that such an institution would create new opportunities for the youth of the region. Dr. Rawat also firmly expressed that tribal communities are Hindu, and therefore the demand for a separate religious code is inappropriate. He strongly objected to this proposal.

Speaking during Zero Hour in the Winter Session of Parliament, Dr. Rawat highlighted that the Bhil community is one of the largest Scheduled Tribes in the country. Whether it was the sacrifices at Mangarh Dham or the Battle of Haldighati, the Bhil community has always stood strong, inspired by Lord Shiva, and has courageously resisted invaders. The Bhil population, predominantly residing in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, exceeds three crore.

Dr. Rawat noted that the Modi government has launched several schemes for tribal welfare in recent years. Through initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana and Dharti Aaba Yojana, significant work has been done for tribal upliftment. He added that the government has also established one Central Tribal University each in the Northeast and Telangana. Therefore, he urged that a Central Tribal University should also be set up in the Bhil-dominated region, home to nearly 3–3.5 crore people, under the Dharti Aaba Janjati Utkarsh Abhiyan.

“Tribals are Hindu; Demand for Separate Religion Code is Wrong”

On Wednesday, Dr. Rawat also objected to the demand raised by Congress MP Goval Kagda for a separate religious code for tribals. He stated that tribal communities across the country are Hindu, and the demand for a separate religion code is completely unjustified.
