Sangam University Successfully Organises Legal Aid Camp

Bhilwara. The Faculty of Law at Sangam University, Bhilwara, successfully organised a comprehensive Legal Aid Camp at the Girls’ Senior Secondary School and Boys’ Senior Secondary School in Pur. The initiative aimed at spreading legal awareness among students and rural communities while encouraging them to understand their rights and the judicial mechanisms available to them.

The chief guest, retired District Judge Shiv Kumar Sharma, inspired the students through Sanskrit verses and short stories, motivating them to work towards a bright and responsible future. At the outset, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi discussed the core objectives of the Legal Aid Camp and emphasised that legal awareness is essential for building an informed and empowered society.

Special guest Vishal Bhargava, Additional District & Sessions Judge and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, focused particularly on girls’ safety. He highlighted the need for society to become more sensitive, aware and proactive regarding the rights and security of girl students.

Other special guests—Chief Judicial Magistrate Nagendra Singh, Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge Eeshpal Singh, Siddharthjeet Katya, and Kriti Shekhawat—also addressed the gathering. They provided valuable insights on legal rights, judicial procedures, and the importance of approaching legal institutions without fear or hesitation.

The schools extended strong support through Kalpana Jain, Principal of Boys’ Senior Secondary School, Pur, and Bharti Sharma, Principal of Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Pur.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Karunesh Saxena congratulated the faculty for the successful organisation of the event and encouraged the continuation of such impactful programmes. Under the guidance of Registrar Dr. Alok Kumar, the camp was organised smoothly and effectively.

During the camp, law students presented impactful nukkad nataks (street plays) on pressing social issues including women’s education, domestic violence, dowry, and cybercrime. These performances drew strong engagement from the students and villagers.

Legal Aid Booths were also set up, where law students provided information on legal rights, access to justice, and various government schemes. They further visited nearby areas to collect feedback forms aimed at assessing and enhancing legal awareness within the community.

The event was coordinated by Assistant Professor Shashank Shekhar Singh, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Omprakash Somkuwar, Dean In-charge.
Assistant Dean Gaurav Saxena, Dr. Vishnupriya Dadhich, Dr. Sunakshi Sharma, Aditya Dadhich, Vartika Mishra, and Vrinda Maheshwari were also present on the occasion.

The programme was efficiently anchored by students Ritika Choudhary and Diya Parashar, adding a vibrant touch to the event’s proceedings.
