One-Day Farmer Awareness Program under RAWS

On March 27, , a one-day farmer awareness program was organized in the village of Jherpara (Karji), under the Rural Agricultural Weather Services (RAWS) project, at the Agricultural Research Center, Borvat Farm, Banswara. Around 75 farmers from Jherpara village participated in the event.

During the program, Dr. Hargilas, the regional director of the center, provided information on the impact of weather on crops. He mentioned that the center issues weather forecasts twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, covering components like rainfall, temperature, clouds, humidity, sunshine, wind speed, and direction, along with information on crop cultivation, harvesting, intercropping activities, pest and disease prevention, and treatment.

Farmers were encouraged to register their mobile numbers to receive agricultural weather-related information. Mr. Mukesh Joshi, an agricultural extension officer, advised farmers to choose crop varieties suitable for prevailing weather conditions to mitigate disease and pest risks.

Dr. Piyush Chaudhary, a research associate, shed light on the relevance and importance of weather-related information among farmers and engaged in detailed discussions on farming based on weather forecasts.

Mr. Ashok Mawi, the moderator of the event, facilitated the proceedings and expressed gratitude.
