Udaipur | A one-day online workshop on the theme “Patent and Design Awareness” was successfully organized on Tuesday under the joint auspices of the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, and Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth.
Presiding over the workshop, Vice Chancellor Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot emphasized that by protecting innovations, India is strengthening the foundation of a knowledge-driven economy. He stated that intellectual property protection has become more crucial than ever in today’s digital era, and that an IPR revolution is needed to support inclusive growth and strengthen IPR laws, ultimately leading to quality employment opportunities.
Keynote speaker Mr. Kumar Raju, Assistant Controller (Patent & Design), provided detailed insights on patents, copyrights, trademarks, and design registrations at national and international levels. He also explained the online filing process in depth. He highlighted that to receive rightful benefits of an innovation, not only patents but also design rights must be secured in the innovator’s own name. He further discussed the impact of IPR on daily life and the support it offers to innovators.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Chandresh Kumar Chhatlani informed that the workshop was organized under the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission of the Government of India.
