Udaipur : On the occasion of Indian Constitution Day, a one-day national seminar on the topic Know the Constitution was organized by Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University on Wednesday at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat Hall, Pratap Nagar.

The Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, stated that the Indian Constitution is not merely a legal document but the soul of the nation and the foundation of modern nation-building. We are fortunate to have the strongest constitution, which is the longest handwritten constitution in the world. The purpose of celebrating Constitution Day is to raise awareness of our fundamental rights. Originally, the Constitution had 395 Articles, 8 Schedules, and 22 Parts. Over time, with amendments, it now has 448 Articles, 12 Schedules, and 25 Parts. The original handwritten copy of the Constitution is credited to Prem Bihari Narayan Raizada. The process of drafting the Constitution took 2 years, 11 months, and 18 days. Women played a significant role in its creation. The Constitution was needed at a time when India required a legal framework that could bring equality and unity among the country's diverse religious communities. The Constitution of India was adopted on 26th November, 1949. Since the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the Chairman of the Drafting Committee, in 2015, Constitution Day has been celebrated every year across the country. Constitution Day not only reminds us of our rights as citizens of a free India but also reinforces our awareness of the fundamental rights written in the Constitution. In this context, the University will inaugurate the construction of a grand Constitution Hall and Constitution Park in the New Year. This initiative aims to make citizens aware of their responsibilities, as the Constitution is the backbone of any nation.
