Seven-Day Cultural, Literary and Sports Festival Begins at Lokmanya Tilak Teacher Training College

Udaipur: The seven-day cultural, literary and sports competition organized by Lokmanya Tilak Teacher Training College, a constituent of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, commenced on Tuesday with the unfurling of the institution’s flag by the invited dignitaries at the college sports ground.

During the inaugural ceremony, former Vice-Chancellor and Advisor to the Governor, Prof. Kailash Sodani, was honoured with a garland, traditional turban, memento and citation by University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shiv Singh Sarangdevot for his remarkable contribution in the fields of education and innovation.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sodani said that a teacher is the true architect of the nation, responsible for shaping the future generation and awakening their potential. He emphasized that India's global reputation for world-class institutions is the result of the dedication of its teachers. He added that in today’s knowledge-driven 21st century, those who possess greater knowledge will lead the way.

Referring to the National Education Policy 2020, he encouraged students to adopt self-study, discipline, science, technology and sports to become modern and self-reliant. He praised Vidyapeeth for its academic excellence and noted that its reputation extends internationally due to the hard work of its leadership and faculty.

Presiding over the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. S. Sarangdevot highlighted Prof. Sodani’s unparalleled contribution to education over the past five decades and his vital role in the development journey of Vidyapeeth. He said that meaningful companionship enriches life and that knowledgeable company illuminates one’s path.

Prof. Sarangdevot urged students to participate actively in co-curricular activities along with academics for holistic growth. Sports, he said, foster team spirit, leadership and perseverance.

Welcoming the guests, Principal Prof. Saroj Garg informed that the week-long event will include Mehendi, Mono Acting, Fancy Dress, Extempore, Rangoli, Solo & Group Dance, Face Painting, Poetry Recitation, Mandana Art, Nail Art, Fireless Cooking, Quiz, Solo Song, Dance and Mr. & Ms. Competition, among many others.

Sports In-charge Dr. Rohit Kumawat shared that events such as Kabaddi, Badminton, Carrom, Chess, 100m, 200m & 400m races, Relay Race, Disc Throw, Javelin Throw and Shot Put will be held separately for boys and girls.

The event was attended by Prof. Saroj Garg, Dr. Yuvraj Singh Rathore, Dr. Rachna Rathore, Dr. Ami Rathore, Dr. Balidan Jain, Dr. B. L. Shrimali, Dr. Amit Baheti, Dr. Nivedita, Dr. Babita Rasheed, Dr. Anita Kothari, Dr. Rohit Kumawat, Dr. Harish Chaubisa, Dr. Amit Dave, Dr. Harish Menaria, faculty members and students.

The programme was conducted by Dr. Harish Chaubisa, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Rachna Rathore.
