Grand Welcome for Former Field Hockey Player Sujit Kumar at Maharana Mewar Public School

Udaipur: It was a day of great enthusiasm and pride for Maharana Mewar Public School, located at City Palace Udaipur, when renowned former field hockey player Sujit Kumar visited the school during his trip to the city. He represented India in the 1988 Summer Olympics and was also a member of the Indian team that won the bronze medal at the 1986 Asian Games. During his visit, he interacted with students and shared insights about the finer aspects of sports.

The program began in the school premises, where National Cadet Corps cadets welcomed the guest with discipline and dignity. This was followed by a warm reception from the teachers, who greeted him with loud applause. Sujit Kumar was accompanied by his wife and Kuldeep Singh Jhala, Secretary of the Udaipur Hockey Association. The school community extended a heartfelt welcome to the guests. On this occasion, the Honorary Director of the school, Satish Kumar Sharma, honored them by presenting bouquets.

In his inspiring address, Sujit Kumar shared his life experiences with the students and highlighted the crucial role of teachers in shaping young lives. He stated that teachers’ contributions are as important as those of parents. While parents give life to children, teachers provide them with the right direction and values.

He further emphasized that modern education is not limited to textbook knowledge alone but focuses on holistic development through sports, discipline, and life values. Encouraging the students, he said that if they maintain a balance between academics, sports, and co-curricular activities, they can achieve great success in life.

On this occasion, Kuldeep Singh Jhala, Secretary of the Udaipur Hockey Association, expressed gratitude to Nivritti Kumari Mewar for her patronage and encouragement. He said that her guidance has given a new direction and momentum to sports activities. He also appreciated the school’s efforts in motivating students to participate in sports and develop discipline, team spirit, and physical fitness.
