Udaipur : Under the joint aegis of the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC), Udaipur, and the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Nagpur, several festivals have been successfully organized in the past, receiving overwhelming response from Nagpur residents. After several years, the much-awaited “Octave-2025” festival has once again brought the people of Nagpur an opportunity to experience the true essence of the Northeast’s rich cultural heritage, said Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Singhal while inaugurating the event.
The inauguration of the North East Festival – Octave was conducted by Dr. Singhal under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. On this occasion, he also inaugurated the exhibition of traditional textiles and handicrafts from the northeastern region by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The event was graced by SCZCC Director Aastha Karlekar, Deputy Director Deepak Kulkarni, Accounts Officer Deepak Patil, WZCC Director Furqan Khan, and Programme Officer Hemant Mehta.
In his address, Dr. Singhal remarked that the festival is being organized across different parts of the country, offering a rare chance to witness the colors, emotions, and resilience of northeastern culture. He urged citizens to participate in large numbers to truly experience this cultural confluence.
Earlier, Dr. Singhal visited all the exhibition stalls, interacted with artisans, and encouraged them for their work. The stallholders presented souvenirs representing their respective states.
Speaking at the event, Director Aastha Karlekar stated that the primary aim of the Government of India is to familiarize people from other regions with the art, craft, and traditions of the northeastern states. She mentioned that traditional handicrafts, handlooms, and decorative items from all eight northeastern states are available for sale at the venue.
The program was conducted by Vivek Aloni and Mohita Dixit, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Furqan Khan.
