Army Desert Corps Organizes Bicycle Expedition to Commemorate 52nd Vijay Diwas

Jaipur, In celebration of the 52nd Vijay Diwas and in homage to the bravery displayed by the Armed Forces during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, a Bicycle Expedition, part of the Konark Multi Modal Expedition, was inaugurated on 9th December 2023 from the historic Nara Bet region. The ceremony was conducted in the tranquil surroundings of the Rann Region of Kutch, with the flag-off performed by the Commander of the 31 Infantry Brigade.

The primary objective of the expedition was to demonstrate the physical endurance of Indian soldiers and underline the spirit of unity and camaraderie within the Armed Forces. A total of 24 cyclists from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and BSF covered a distance of 256 kms through Suigam, Dholavira, and concluded at Dhorodo.

En route, the cyclists engaged in various awareness and motivational events, highlighting the Agniveer Scheme and inspiring youth at Chimalal Laxmi Bai Parik High School, Santalpur. The soldiers were warmly welcomed, and their talk was received with enthusiasm by the young minds.

On 10th Dec 2023, the cyclists reached the UNESCO World Heritage site, Dholavira, one of the best-preserved urban settlements promoting the incredible history of India and honoring the valor of the Armed Forces during the 1971 war. The expedition provided an opportunity for goodwill and interaction with the local populace, where they spread awareness about the historic significance of Vijay Diwas.

Indian Army organized a Kho-Kho competition for school children to promote the sports culture in remote villages, instilling discipline, team spirit, and mental focus. Covering a distance of 256 kms from Nara Bet to Dhorodo, the cyclists aimed to promote national integration on the 52nd anniversary of Vijay Diwas.

The day concluded with an interactive session to honor ex-servicemen for their dedicated service to the nation. The patriotic cycling journey culminated in the picturesque surroundings of the Rann region of Kutch on 11 December 2023 at Dhorodo.

The enthusiastic team covered challenging and enthralling landscapes along the border areas of Kutch, symbolizing the resilience of our forces in the face of adversity. The route traversed through renowned locations such as Narabet, Dholavira Heritage Site, and White Rann. The cycling expedition also featured demonstrations of specialized equipment, offering a glimpse into the modern capabilities of the Indian Army at Dhorodo.
