Several Key Messages Emerged from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Rajasthan Visit

The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ajmer and his address there are being viewed as highly significant from political, religious, and developmental perspectives. From the historic city of Ajmer, the Prime Minister’s message extended beyond the local audience, presenting a broader vision for the development of Rajasthan. Referring to Ajmer’s historical and spiritual identity, the Prime Minister described the city as a symbol of India’s cultural unity and religious harmony. Mentioning Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Pushkar Lake, he said Ajmer is an important global center of faith. He emphasized that the promotion of religious tourism could significantly strengthen the local economy.

A major focus of his address was infrastructure and development projects. He spoke about accelerating road, rail, water, and energy projects in Rajasthan and reiterated that the central government is fully committed to the state’s progress. Improved road connectivity and modern facilities, he said, would boost investment and tourism in Rajasthan.

The Prime Minister also elaborated on welfare schemes for the poor. He noted that central government initiatives such as housing, tap water connections, free ration distribution, and health insurance have benefited millions of families in Rajasthan. The government’s objective, he said, is to bring marginalized and underprivileged sections into the mainstream.

His speech also carried a political message, stressing the need to accelerate development and ensure stable governance in the state. He highlighted the benefits of a “double-engine government,” stating that it expedites development work and ensures faster delivery of benefits to the public. The Prime Minister also focused on youth and employment, stating that industrial investment and tourism growth in Rajasthan would create new opportunities for young people. Skill development and self-employment schemes are being promoted to make youth self-reliant.

Special emphasis was placed on preserving cultural heritage. He stated that Rajasthan’s historical monuments are integral to the nation’s identity and that preservation efforts are being pursued alongside modern development. He also highlighted the potential of developing the Ajmer–Pushkar region as a major tourism hub.

During the occasion, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for resolving long-pending water disputes. He stated that the project to bring Yamuna water from Hathni Kund Barrage would provide a permanent solution to water shortages in the Shekhawati region. He added that the Ramjal Setu Link projects would provide drinking water and irrigation facilities to 17 districts. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, over 1.4 million water connections have been provided in the last two years, along with the construction of more than 400,000 groundwater structures under the Karmabhoomi Se Matrubhoomi campaign.

The Chief Minister further stated that Rajasthan ranks first nationally in 11 centrally sponsored schemes, second in five, and third in seven schemes. The state holds the top position in PM Kusum Components A and C, and under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, over 131,000 rooftop solar plants have been installed. He also noted a 14 percent overall reduction in crime and a 10 percent decrease in crimes against women. Over a dozen new policies have been implemented in the past two years. Out of ₹35 lakh crore worth of MoUs signed during the Rising Rajasthan summit, projects worth ₹8 lakh crore have already broken ground.

The event was attended by Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary, MP Madan Rathore, and several other ministers, public representatives, and citizens.

Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani welcomed the Prime Minister to Ajmer and thanked him for announcing development projects worth ₹16,600 crore for the state.
