Collector Reviews City Cleanliness & Traffic Systems

Udaipur. The District Collector and Administrator of the Municipal Corporation, Namit Mehta, convened a meeting of Municipal Corporation officials at his residence on Wednesday. He instructed the officials to maintain strict cleanliness and traffic systems in view of the ongoing tourism season.

Collector Mehta reviewed the ongoing anti-encroachment drives being conducted by the Municipal Corporation and sought detailed information from Commissioner Abhishek Khanna. He directed that the removal of temporary encroachments along major city roads must continue. He further emphasised that the administration’s objective is not to cause inconvenience to anyone. Therefore, at least 72 hours’ prior notice must be given to affected individuals through announcements or door-to-door communication so that shopkeepers and residents can remove their belongings themselves. Wide public announcements through microphones and action after the deadline were also instructed.

He also directed that the shifting of Hathipol vegetable market be carried out systematically, followed by actions on other pre-identified market locations. Commissioner Khanna informed that two to three locations in the city have been identified for developing parking spaces.

The Collector reviewed the city’s cleanliness arrangements and highlighted that the tourism season coincides with the wedding season, leading to heavy public movement. He stated that no visitor should leave the city with a negative impression regarding sanitation. He instructed that public toilets be regularly cleaned, dilapidated units repaired, and unusable toilets demolished.

The Collector also issued directives to prepare a comprehensive action plan for the upcoming Swachh Survey, ensuring implementation from the first week of December. Inspector Mangi Lal Dangi, Health Officer Satyanarayan Sharma and other officials were present during the meeting.
