Udaipur: On the occasion of the 77th Foundation Day of Rajasthan Police, Sindhu Binujeet, Divisional Child Protection Advisor from Udaipur, will be honoured at the main state-level समारोह to be held at the Rajasthan Police Academy in Jaipur.
According to orders issued by Biju George Joseph, Additional Director General of Police (Personnel), the award will be presented during the समारोह on Thursday by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. She will be recognized with a commendation certificate for her contributions to child protection activities in collaboration with UNICEF and the Rajasthan Police.
Honouring Sindhu Binujeet reflects a significant step toward modern and socially responsive policing. While policing has evolved over the years since independence, the growing focus on sensitive issues such as child protection and women’s safety highlights a positive transformation.
Sindhu Binujeet first gained recognition in 2010 in the tribal district of Dungarpur in southern Rajasthan. She led campaigns in BT cotton-growing regions to prevent child labour and migration. By coordinating efforts among administration, police, and UNICEF—often challenging traditional norms in tribal areas—she helped address the root causes of child labour.
Her work has gone beyond awareness campaigns to bringing systemic changes within the police. She initiated friendly dialogue between children and police, reducing fear among children. She also trained police volunteers, village guards, and community safety workers on child protection issues. Innovative initiatives such as “Bal Mitra Police Thana” (child-friendly police stations) and “Safe Schools” were launched in Dungarpur under her guidance.
Her work gained wider attention in 2015 when former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje visited Dungarpur and interacted with girls involved in these initiatives. Impressed by the model, she directed its expansion across the state. Today, these initiatives are successfully implemented across all districts of the Udaipur range, benefiting thousands of children by making them aware of their rights.
Although Sindhu Binujeet had already been honoured by the state government and various organizations in 2017, her continued efforts and her role in developing a child-friendly environment at the police station level have now earned her this prestigious state-level recognition.
