Udaipur — A seven-day Amrita Haat (fair) was inaugurated on Wednesday at Gandhi Ground under the aegis of the District Administration and the Department of Women Empowerment. The inauguration was graced by the Divisional Commissioner and the District Collector.
At the fair, progressive members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have set up stalls to sell their handmade products. A wide variety of useful daily-life items are available for visitors. The seven-day fair will be open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner Kevalramani said that the haat has been organized regularly for several years and has provided significant support to women in achieving self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods. He noted that women participating in Self-Help Groups inspire others to pursue self-employment and economic independence.
District Collector Namit Mehta stated that the haat provides an effective platform to empower women and promote their products. He emphasized that many of the products displayed are of excellent quality and useful in everyday life. He encouraged visitors to spread the word about these products to help boost sales and further strengthen women economically.
During the event, the guests visited various stalls and interacted with SHG members from different districts of the division, offering them their best wishes. Additional Divisional Commissioner Chhogaram Devasi, social worker Chandragupt Singh, other dignitaries, and a large number of SHG members were also present.
### Over 120 Stalls and Various Competitions to Be Major Attractions
Deputy Director of the Department of Women Empowerment, Sanjay Joshi, informed that more than 120 stalls have been set up at the Amrita Haat, showcasing products made by women Self-Help Groups. The fair features handicrafts, traditional items, handloom products, handmade jewelry, decorative materials, organic products, spices, papad, mangodi, pickles, and various food items. Cultural programs and sports competitions will also serve as key attractions during the event.
