Meeting on Victim Compensation Scheme

Udaipur — A meeting of the Victim Compensation Scheme was held under the aegis of the Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority and chaired by District Legal Services Authority Chairman and District & Sessions Judge Gyan Prakash Gupta.
The meeting was attended by MACT Judge Bhawani Shankar Pandya, Family Court Judge Palvinder Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate Mrs. Ambika Solanki, ASP Lakhman Rai, Public Prosecutor Ramkripa Sharma, and Bar Association President Jitendra Jain.
ADJ Kuldeep Sharma informed that 12 cases were disposed of during the meeting, and victim compensation awards totaling ₹20,25,000 were approved for victims and their dependents. Separate amounts were sanctioned to provide financial security to the victims’ families and dependents. Directions were issued to deposit the approved amounts into their savings accounts and to create fixed deposits (FDRs) where necessary.
Compensation under the Victim Compensation Scheme is granted in cases such as rape, murder, and offences under the POCSO Act, ensuring financial assistance to victims and their dependents.
Undertrial Review Committee Meeting
A meeting of the Undertrial Review Committee was also held under the chairmanship of District Legal Services Authority Chairman Gyan Prakash Gupta.
ADJ Kuldeep Sharma stated that the committee reviewed cases of undertrial prisoners who have completed half of the maximum prescribed sentence while their cases are still pending before the court.
