District Road Safety Committee Meeting Held; Collector Directs Formation of Committee for Accident-Prone Areas

Udaipur: A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee was held on Wednesday at the Collectorate Mini Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Collector Gaurav Agrawal, with the aim of effectively controlling road accidents in the district. Officials from various departments participated and held detailed discussions on road safety issues.

At the beginning of the meeting, Collector Agrawal reviewed the progress of compliance with the directives issued in the previous बैठक. He emphasized that reducing road accidents in the district is the top priority and that all concerned departments must work in coordination to achieve this goal.

The Collector directed that any constructions carried out in violation of rules along major roads be removed immediately. He stated that illegal constructions not only obstruct traffic but also increase the risk of accidents. He also instructed officials to carry out necessary road repairs and construct speed breakers at accident-prone locations.

Collector Agrawal also stressed the importance of rewarding individuals who assist accident victims, in line with state government provisions. He said that honoring such “Good Samaritans” would send a positive message to society and encourage more people to come forward to help.

Focusing on engineering improvements for road safety, he directed the formation of a joint committee comprising officials from various departments. This committee will inspect accident-prone locations (black spots) in the district and prepare a corrective action plan.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Collector (City) Jitendra Ojha, trainee IAS officer Srishti Dabas, Additional Superintendent of Police Umesh Ojha, Superintendent Engineer (City) of the Public Works Department Abhinandan Kumar Jain, along with other officials from various departments.
