“Do Self-Enumeration from Home, Participate in Census 2027”

Udaipur: District Collector and Principal Census Officer Gaurav Agrawal on Thursday addressed a press conference regarding the self-enumeration process for house listing and housing census, which will begin from May 1 under Census 2027. Through media representatives, he appealed to residents of the district to actively participate in this important national exercise by completing their self-enumeration.

Addressing the press conference held at the Collectorate mini auditorium, the District Collector stated that the Census of India is a highly significant and extensive administrative exercise. Through the census, social, economic, and demographic data of every citizen in the country is collected. Based on this data, the central and state governments formulate various development plans, infrastructure projects, and welfare programs related to education, health, housing, employment, and social security.

He emphasized that the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of census data are extremely important, as they form the foundation for policy-making and administrative decisions. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every resident to provide correct and complete information and actively contribute to this national task.

Under the census process, self-enumeration for house listing and housing census will be conducted from May 1, 2026, to May 15, 2026, while fieldwork will take place from May 16, 2026, to June 14, 2026. Active public participation is essential to ensure the success of this important exercise.

Fully Digital and Technology-Based Process

The District Collector informed that in line with the government’s commitment to the Digital India initiative, Census 2027 will be entirely digital to enhance the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of data collection and dissemination. A dedicated mobile application (HLO Application) will be used for this purpose.

Additionally, citizens will have access to a self-enumeration facility through a dedicated web portal (se-census.gov.in) from May 1 to May 15, 2026, in Rajasthan. This portal will be available for 15 days prior to the door-to-door data collection by enumerators. It will be accessible in English, Hindi, and 14 regional languages. The head of the family can complete the process in approximately 15–20 minutes by entering household details.

Self-enumeration provides a secure and convenient method for citizens to submit their family details at their own convenience. After completing the process, a self-enumeration ID will be sent to the user’s mobile or email. During the enumerator’s visit, this unique ID must be shared for verification and final submission. In the first phase, a total of 34 questions related to housing conditions, household amenities, and assets will be asked.

Special Camp at Zila Parishad

The District Collector directed all government officials and employees to first complete the self-enumeration of their own families, stating that this initiative would set an example and encourage public participation. ADM (Administration) Dipendra Singh Rathore informed that a special camp will be organized on Friday, May 1, at the Zila Parishad auditorium, where Collectorate and Zila Parishad staff will complete their self-enumeration. Similar camps will also be organized at the block level.

Use Only Authorized Portal

The District Collector also cautioned citizens against cyber fraud, advising them to use only the official portal for self-enumeration. He warned people not to fall for fake links or calls and to remain cautious while sharing personal information.

During the press conference, District Census Officer and ADM (Administration) Dipendra Singh Rathore, Deputy District Census Officer and Joint Director (Statistics) Puneet Sharma, along with representatives from print, electronic, and digital media, were present.
