Grand Inauguration of Fire Safety Week at RNT Medical College, Udaipur – Special Focus on Safety Standards

Udaipur: In compliance with the guidelines of the Government of India and the State Government, the Fire Safety Week 2026 was formally inaugurated on Monday at RNT Medical College Udaipur and its affiliated Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital. The awareness and training session was held at the Anaesthesia Seminar Hall, where doctors, officials, and nursing staff actively participated and reaffirmed their commitment to disaster preparedness.

As part of the program, Superintendent Dr. R.L. Suman administered the fire safety oath to all participants.

Safety as an Institutional Priority

Principal and Controller of RNT Medical College, Dr. Rahul Jain, emphasized that fire safety is an essential part of hospital functioning. He stated that in medical institutions, fire safety is not just a legal requirement but a core responsibility towards patients. The aim is to implement a “zero tolerance” policy and ensure that even the last employee in every department is trained to respond effectively during emergencies. Regular audits and training sessions are conducted to continuously strengthen disaster management preparedness.

Importance of Vigilance and Quick Response

Addressing healthcare providers, Superintendent Dr. R.L. Suman said that adherence to safety standards in sensitive environments like hospitals is the primary responsibility of every employee. He stressed that alertness and quick response in emergency situations can prevent major accidents. The fire safety oath taken today represents not just words but a commitment to patient safety. The real success of this week lies in implementing the training practically in daily operations.

Practical Training Session

The main trainer, Navdeep Bagga from the Fire and Rescue Department Udaipur, provided hands-on training on the effective use of fire extinguishers and safe evacuation procedures. The session was smoothly coordinated by Dr. Ravindra Gehlot, Professor and Nodal Officer of the Anaesthesia Department.

Week-Long Awareness Campaign

The Fire Safety Week will continue from May 4 to May 10, during which regular mock drills and awareness programs will be conducted across various blocks of the hospital to strengthen emergency preparedness and safety awareness among staff.
