Udaipur, Under the All India Coordinated Fruit Project being implemented at MPUAT, a one-day Women Farmer Training and Agricultural Input Distribution Programme was organised on 27 September 2025 at Bijnawas village, Khemli Panchayat Samiti, as part of the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan component. The programme was focused on encouraging every household to develop a Nutrition Garden. A total of 25 women farmers belonging to Scheduled Caste communities participated in the training.
Scientific Guidance on Nutrition Gardens
During the training, women farmers were imparted knowledge on scientific techniques for establishing nutrition gardens with improved varieties of fruits and vegetables. The sessions were conducted by Dr. S.S. Lakhawat (Project Incharge), Dr. K.K. Yadav (Agriculture Expert), Ramjilal, and Bheemraj Meghwal (Agriculture Supervisor).
They advised participants to plant fruit trees in the backyard, cultivate tuber crops in the bunds, and grow seasonal vegetables and flowers between the trees to ensure a continuous supply of fresh fruits and vegetables for household use.
Distribution of Inputs to Women Farmers
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. S.S. Lakhawat distributed agricultural inputs to each participant. These included 10 fruit saplings of improved varieties, small seed kits of winter season vegetables, and a small agricultural tool, enabling women farmers to start their own household nutrition gardens.
Dr. Lakhawat also extended heartfelt thanks to the subject experts and all women farmers for their enthusiastic participation, underlining that such initiatives strengthen household nutrition security and promote self-reliance among women farmers.
