Udaipur, (Dr. Latika Vyas)The state-wide Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan has officially commenced today across Rajasthan and will continue till 12 June 2025. This national-level initiative, launched under the joint efforts of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, aims to directly engage with farmers across every field and village to ensure maximum benefits in the upcoming Kharif season.
Dr. J.P. Mishra, Director, ICAR-ATARI Jodhpur, has been entrusted with leading the campaign in Rajasthan. The mission is focused on reaching remote and tribal villages, particularly in geographically challenging areas. Agricultural scientists will visit these regions to inform farmers about modern Kharif crop techniques, the importance of soil health cards, government schemes, and recent innovations in agriculture.
Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnatak, Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, stated that in the Mewar-Bagar division, the campaign is being implemented under the Directorate of Extension Education. KVKs from Banswara, Bhilwara I & II, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Vallabhnagar, and Badgaon will play an active role. Each KVK has been assigned to cover a total of 550 villages across 126 blocks. Direct interaction with farmers will focus not only on increasing crop production but also on improving quality.
On the opening day, all nine KVKs under the Directorate of Extension Education will organize various programs to mark the launch.
Key Focus Areas of the Campaign:
Promoting awareness of modern farming methods for key Kharif crops
Educating farmers on beneficial government schemes and policies
Encouraging use of soil health cards for balanced fertilizer application including micronutrients
Raising awareness about the judicious use of chemical fertilizers
Collecting farmer feedback on grassroots innovations to align future research priorities
Dr. R.L. Soni, Director of Extension Education, informed that senior university scientists will conduct lectures on sustainable farming practices, improved crop varieties, production techniques, and crop diversification for livelihood enhancement. A guidebook titled Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan – Pre-Kharif Campaign has also been published by the Directorate and will be distributed to farmers during the drive.
