Another Station Like Jaipur Junction Coming Up in Jaipur City

Sri Ganganagar: The suburban Khatipura Railway Station in Jaipur is being developed into a fully self-sufficient mega terminal station, similar in scale and functionality to Jaipur Junction. The aim is to enhance train handling capacity and strengthen railway infrastructure in the region.

The station will feature modern passenger amenities along with advanced facilities for train maintenance. Additional stabling lines have been developed for parking trains after operations. Its development as a satellite terminal is expected to improve connectivity, especially along the Delhi corridor and other long-distance routes.

Along with passenger convenience, Khatipura is being developed as an important maintenance hub for trains operating on various routes. A major Coach Care Complex, being built at a cost of ₹205 crore, will enable centralized maintenance of different types of rolling stock including Vande Bharat Express, LHB coaches, and DEMU rakes.

Currently, the station has 6 high-level platforms and 8 railway lines. The high platforms will ensure easier boarding and deboarding for all passengers, especially women, elderly citizens, and persons with disabilities. The multiple lines will also eliminate crossing issues and improve train movement efficiency.

Several dedicated lines are being constructed, including:

  • 5 lines toward Jaipur for washing, testing, inspection, heavy and bogie repairs, drop pits, and jack pits

  • 3 lines for spur and shunting operations

  • A two-storey building for linen management

On the Dausa side, 2 lines for spur/shunting, 2 additional lines for engine change, stabling, and water filling, and 4 more lines for wheel lathe shed and charging facilities are being developed. A three-storey administrative building and yard master office are also under construction.

The Coach Care Complex will be equipped with modern technologies such as an automatic coach washing plant, computerized wheel profile management system, synchronized electrically operated lifting jacks, coach lifting units, water recycling system, high-capacity cranes, and motor-driven winching machines. These systems will eliminate the need to send coaches to other locations for maintenance.

Once completed, the Khatipura terminal will serve as a strong alternative to Jaipur’s main station, Jaipur Junction, and will significantly increase the operational capacity for trains originating from Jaipur.
